Japan
Japan's largest railway company is currently testing a bullet train that will travel at *** 223 *** miles per hour between Tokyo and Aomori; imagine how awesome it would be to hop on a train in San Francisco and be in Los Angels two hours later.
Two months ago, Amtrak suspended its vaunted Acela Express train service because the breaks didn't work. When the train did run, it was barely superior to what was available in 1954; the New Haven Railroad’s Advance Merchants Limited linked New York with Boston in 3 hours and 57 minutes. The Acela was only about 30 minutes faster. And now the train doesn't even operate.
